Who Is Quality Roofing Solutions?
Quality Roofing Solutions, LLC, is a full-service roofing company serving residential and commercial clients throughout Florida and the Gulf Coast. In business since 2006, Quality Roofing prides itself on delivering top-notch customer service combined with superior expertise in the roofing industry.
The Challenge
With Quality Roofing’s business expanding and a significant amount of additional growth planned, the company needed to hire additional staff to meet sales demands. The leadership team prioritized not only filling the open roles but also hiring the right people for the right seats. Additionally, they realized that by adding more staff, the human resources function needed to be elevated to better support the company in the short and long term.
Quality Roofing had worked hard to prepare for its growth by implementing systems and efficient processes using the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) methodology—all built on a strong base of Core Values.
The missing piece? They needed senior HR expertise to pull it all together.
The Hire Ventures Solution
In February 2024, Hire Ventures stepped in to provide on-demand Fractional HR Leadership. The goals of the engagement included:
- Building the HR Strategy and Roadmap to stand up the Human Resource function
- Offering Recruiting expertise
- Supporting Quality Roofing with Fractional HR, Recruiting, and Payroll Services
At the onset of the Hire Ventures engagement, Jessica, one of the company’s longest-serving team members, understood the need for a strong HR function. Leveraging her years of experience at Quality Roofing, she expressed interest in taking on HR. She demonstrated her commitment by pursuing a Professional Certification in Human Resources. After earning her HR certification (which is not an easy accomplishment!), Jessica was promoted to the HR Manager.
Among the unique aspects of the Hire Ventures engagement was the mentorship provided to Jessica. While acclimating to her new HR role, she leveraged the guidance and experience of her dedicated Hire Ventures team.
Now, with an HR resource in place and HR leadership from Hire Ventures to develop the strategy and roadmap, Quality Roofing was able to move forward with the planned growth.
The Bottom Line
The Hire Ventures team developed a solid HR and Recruiting foundation for Quality Roofing, implemented measures to build a long-term, repeatable process, and crafted a roadmap for future success. Specifically, Hire Ventures:
- Delivered on quarterly assigned EOS “rocks,” or goals, to assure accountability on progress toward the company’s objectives and continued alignment of priorities.
- Created a Leadership and Manager Training Series to better equip the management team in each position within the company.
- Updated the company’s Employee Handbook to include key policies, procedures, and expectations for all roles, as well as to prepare for the changing compliance needs of a growing company.
- Implemented an updated and more efficient hiring process to better support growth, including leveraging an Applicant Tracking System (ATS) and creating an interview training guide for managers.
- Modified and expanded the Human Resource Information System (HRIS) to support the department’s operational functions, such as payroll and benefits administration.
- Implemented the 9-Box Employee Assessment tool, a visual grid that outlines an employee’s current performance and addresses the potential for future growth while highlighting the skill and role gaps within the organization.
- Created a standardized job description template and job descriptions for every role to ensure employees clearly understood their job responsibilities.
- Built a compensation framework, including benchmarking for all existing roles.
- Designed a performance feedback process around the company’s core values and completed the company’s first annual review cycle.
